As we move into 2025, we continue to develop the Faculty of Health and Care, with a new healthcare AI Specialist Group, which launched with a webinar in December. Thanks to those of you who provided your thoughts on the future of the Faculty – the Board will be considering them and responding with plans for 2025 and beyond. MIE 2025 is fast approaching and there are six bursaries for early career future digital health and care leaders. The BCS Council elections are coming up in February and this year, there are some health and care folk standing for election. So, don’t forget to vote for your Council.

Opportunity for Future Digital Health and Care Leaders to attend the Medical Informatics Europe (MIE) 2025 in Glasgow
Both the Faculty of Health and Care and the Primary Health Care Specialist Group are each offering up to three £1,000 travel awards (a total of 6 bursaries!) for those working in digital health and care to attend Medical Informatics Europe (MIE) in Glasgow on 19-21 May 2025. MIE is the annual European Informatics conference organised by the European Federation of Medical Informatics (EFMI) and, this year, hosted by BCS.
Applicants must be early in their digital career ( 5 years or less), but not necessarily in their health and care career, if relevant, and should be able to show the potential to be a future leader in the field. The PHCSG Julian Costello Travel bursaries are specifically for those working in primary care. The BCS Faculty of Health and Care bursaries are complementary and are for those working in digital health and care outside of primary care. Further details and how to apply can be found here:
Voting for BCS Council representatives opens at the end of January and this year there are BCS members and fellows who work in health and care standing for election.
Using your vote as a BCS member is really important as it enables you to have a say in what the organisation does in future. Don’t forget to vote!
